Newport Country AFC vs Manchester City: Score prediction, team news, live stream, TV, h2h – FA Cup preview
Aiming to claim an unprecedented quadruple, dominant Manchester City switch their focus to FA Cup action this weekend.

Pep Guardiola’s side has quickly got their mojo back after a rare defeat at Newcastle.

Beating Everton and firing six past hapless Chelsea to capitalise on a couple of Liverpool slip-ups and return to the top of the Premier League.

Five-time winners City predictably annihilated Championship strugglers Rotherham 7-0 in the third round of this year’s competition before booking their place in the last 16 with another ruthless 5-0 destruction of Burnley.

And while two of their main rivals in Chelsea and Manchester United go head-to-head at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.

The top-flight leaders head to the more modest surrounds of the 7,850-capacity Rodney Parade in south east Wales.

Hoping to slow the sky blue juggernaut are Newport, who currently sit 15th in League Two but have developed a reputation as giant-killers over recent years.

After beating Leeds and taking Tottenham to a replay last season, the fourth-tier team toppled Leicester last month before also seeing off Middlesbrough at the second attempt to tee up a money-spinning fifth-round clash.

Newport manager Michael Flynn says beating Manchester City in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Saturday would represent the biggest shock in the history of the competition.

Newport are 82 places below Premier League leaders City in the football pyramid, but Flynn believes his team can add Pep Guardiola’s side to the list of recent triumphs that includes Leeds, Leicester and Middlesbrough.

Team News of Newport Country AFC vs Manchester City

City’s trip to Newport falls just days before their Champions League last-16 first-leg tie against Schalke in Gelsenkirchen, which is swiftly followed by the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

You can therefore expect a heavily rotated team, although Guardiola has surprised fans with the strength of his FA Cup selections so far this season.

Claudio Bravo (achilles) and Vincent Kompany (muscle) remain sidelined, while Benjamin Mendy (knee) is still doubtful.

Mark O’Brien and Joss Labadie should be fit to play for Newport, although new signing Ade Azeez is cup tied.

Manchester City are again without Vincent Kompany and Benjamin Mendy. Captain Kompany is still troubled by a muscle problem and City are not taking any risks with left-back Mendy’s knee.

Score prediction: Newport 0-4 Manchester City
