Tottenham’s friendly against Reading on Saturday has been called off as Jose Mourinho readies his squad for a return to Premier League football.

Spurs were during a ction at the Tottenham Hostpur Stadium on Friday 

as they were beaten by Norwich in a two-hour friendly before next week’s top flight meeting with Manchester United.




Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko, Heung-min Son and Steven Bergwijn all featured for Spurs as they played four 30-minute quarters. 

Erik Lamela gave the hosts the lead but goals from Josip Drmic and Mario Vrancic handed the Canaries their second win at Tottenham in only over three months.

The plan had been to trial two different XIs across two days, with Reading thanks to visit Spurs on Saturday 

as Mark Bowen’s men steel oneself against a return to Championship action.

But New Gersy Sport understands that match will not happen , forcing Jose Mourinho into a rethink 

with Spurs now just six days out from their first Premier League meeting for 13 weeks.




Mourinho’s men will welcome United to north London therein first game back, with the chance to shut the gap to fifth to only one point. 

Should Manchester City’s ban from European football be upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, 

fifth are going to be enough to secure a Champions League spot.

Ahead of the match, Hugo Lloris issued a rallying cry to his team-mates: “We don’t have the proper to lose games. 

Even more once you face an immediate opponent like Manchester United. 

We are getting to start again with a really important game, maybe a decisive game for the longer term . This game goes to count.”
