Liverpool play their first pre-season friendly of the summer on Saturday with a clash against newly-promoted Leeds United.
The Premier League champions are put through their paces at a training camp on the outskirts of Salzburg and can now intensify preparations for the new season.
Liverpool will combat Stuttgart during a pre-season friendly on Saturday afternoon as they continue their preparations for the Premier League season.
The Reds will enter the upcoming campaign as defending champions and use the competition against the Bundesliga outfit to gage where they’re at.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently in Austria being put through their paces before the season opener against Leeds.
Liverpool only finished their season a matter of weeks ago with a win at Newcastle to round of their impressive year.
But their German manager has already spoken of his want to “attack” their league title instead of defend it.
Fitness are going to be more important than the result on Saturday, of course,
but Klopp are going to be keen to start out building some momentum before the Community Shield clash with Arsenal next weekend.
Stuttgart, like Liverpool, enjoyed a powerful 2019-20 campaign and can be tough to beat this weekend.
Liverpool vs Crystal Palace Team News
Given the unprecedented circumstances, every Premier League club’s pre-season are going to be tons different this year,
with trips to the Far East and America simply impossible .
In some ways that would be an honest thing for managers, allowing them to easily specialise in fitness and tactics, instead of having to appease various sponsors.
Less than a month on from concluding their 2019-20 Premier League campaign,
Liverpool are now readying themselves for his or her first top-flight title defence in three decades.
The Reds announced two friendlies earlier in the week , with this clash against German side Stuttgart being
followed up with a match against Austrian champs Red Bull Salzburg three days later.
That will be it in terms of preparations for the new campaign, which can officially begin on August 29 with the Community Shield curtain-raiser against Arsenal.
Jurgen Klopp’s men then have a two-week breather before beginning their title defence with a tasty home clash against Championship winners Leeds United.
The first of the friendlies against Stuttgart should also provide English champions with a stern test –
Pellegrino Matarazzo’s men having just earned promotion back to the German top flight.
Die Roten finished second in 2. Bundesliga last term and are back within the success after three seasons away.
Stuttgart have had an additional month off compared to Liverpool and have already had one outing this summer,
thrashing Sandhausen 6-1, in order that they should be in better shape for this friendly.
